    Itinerary

    • We leave the port and drive up Montjuïc, the hill that watches over Barcelona from the sea side. Along the way the guide introduces the city and its layers, from the old harbor to the Eixample, while the road opens onto gardens, exhibition grounds, and the slopes that hosted the 1992 Olympic Games. It is a gentle start that gives the group a sense of the geography before we step into the streets.

    Tour Details

    Full Description

Our private shore excursion begins at the cruise terminal, where our guide and driver meet guests at the agreed point with a private, air-conditioned vehicle. The day is planned around the ship's schedule, so we keep the pace comfortable and adjust the route as the hours allow.

We start on Montjuïc, driving up the hill for a panoramic introduction to Barcelona, and stop at the Mirador de l'Alcalde, where the city and the port open up below. From here the whole shape of the day makes sense: the sea, the old town, and the grid of the Eixample.

Back at street level we pass Plaça d'Espanya, one of the monumental squares of the city, then follow Passeig de Gràcia, the great boulevard of Modernista architecture. We stop for photographs in front of Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, the two Gaudí buildings that define the avenue, and read their facades from the sidewalk.

The heart of the excursion is the Sagrada Família. We visit it from outside, with time to look at the Nativity and Passion facades and to understand how Gaudí's project is still being built. Entrance to the interior can be arranged on request when booked in advance, and on the longer versions of the day we also reach Park Güell, with its tiled terraces and its views over the city.

We close in the old town: a walk through the Gothic Quarter, among Roman walls and hidden squares, with a stop in front of Barcelona Cathedral. Before returning to the terminal we spend a last moment at Port Vell and Barceloneta, where the waterfront ends the day.

The tour stays private from beginning to end, so the guide adapts the pace to the group, and drop-off at the port is included.
