    Itinerary

    • We open the tour in Piazza dei Miracoli, the green expanse where the Torre, the Duomo, and the Battistero stand side by side. We look at them from the square, following the lean of the tower and the marble of the cathedral, and we take our time on a square that has been the wonder of Pisa for centuries.

    Tour Details

    Full Description

Pisa is a city we like to read on a plate, and that is exactly how we explore it. Our street food tour with local specialities tastings and guided sightseeing follows the historic center from the Torre to the river, pairing the monuments with more than seven tastings of Tuscan food at stops spread across the center.

We begin at Piazza dei Miracoli, where the Torre, the Duomo, and the Battistero stand together on one lawn, then walk down Via Santa Maria toward Piazza dei Cavalieri and its decorated palazzi. From Borgo Stretto, with its porticoes and the church of San Michele in Borgo, we move to Piazza Garibaldi and the Ponte di Mezzo for the classic view over the Arno and the palazzi of the Lungarni.

The second half of the route follows the south bank: Palazzo Blu and its blue facade on the Lungarno Gambacorti, then the small Gothic church of Santa Maria della Spina, seen up close from the outside. We cross back to the north side over the Ponte Solferino and close the walk between the arcades of Piazza delle Vettovaglie, the square of the old food market, and Piazza delle Gondole beside the city walls.

The tastings are the heart of the day, and they are spread through the center rather than gathered in one place: cecina, gelato, prosciutto toscano, ribollita, polpette, and pecorino toscano, plus other local specialities from the Tuscan table, served at different stops as we walk. Vegetarian options are available; vegan and gluten-free options are not. Wine and drinks are not included, and the guide will point out local options that can be purchased along the route.

We run the tour privately or in a small group, in the morning, afternoon, or evening, with availability in English, Italian, Spanish, French, and German. Hotel, airport, train station, and port pickup can be arranged on request, optional for private tours. We confirm the meeting point after booking.
